Franklin D. Roosevelt is my hero, though I never knew the man. He suffered from chronic illness and still managed to be President of the United States — and a good one at that. Our world would look very different if he hadn’t been President…he ended the Great Depression, Prohibition and had to deal with World War II during his four terms. Yes, the American public voted him in four times! Social Security is one of his programs that survives today, but there are others. And he did all this while being unable to walk due to polio.
